Is there a good resource that has some generic CDML samples that a beginner can look at?

I'm just beginning to do custom web publishing of a simple database with a few fields, value lists, etc.

I've got the CDML Tool but that isn't necessarily clear on how exactly to do everything.

I just want to put up a few screens to show records, add new ones, delete old ones and search for specific ones.

Is there anything out there?

Somewhere is FM CDML Reference database. Try to search this site and/or FileMaker's.

Yeah, I have that. I was hoping there was something a little more -- something with examples.

I'd suggest looking at Lasso (LDML) instead, if you're looking for pre-made solutions. Some sites that list Lasso solutions include:

Whether cdml or ldml, there is a learning curve to overcome. ldml is an added expense. How well are you capitalized?

Some of the examples are gems, some have small bugs.
