Locating info by Date

Featured Replies

Newbie -- I've been searching and can't find how to create a script that searches via a Date field.

  • I have a database that shows room assignments

  • A button on the Test Screen links to the Room Booking Screen so that the viewer can see any conflicts

  • On the test screen the operator has to enter the Date of the Test.

I want the operator to be able to click on the button, go to the Room Booking Screen, and see all tests occurring on the date of the test.

I can't put in a specific date range or date because the dates change depending on the student and test. And if I go make the operator do a FIND for all tests on this test date, the operators complain that it wastes time and interrupts their entry work.

[color:red]I'd like to create a script that searches the database for like dates without the operator having to stop and do a search. Just click a button and the script matches all records to the current to the TEST DATE in the current record... is that possible?

Thanks much for your help

Amy

Amy:

You seem to indicate that there is a current date. If so, there are a number of ways to do this. One way is the following, and for clarity I will call the current date Your_Date_Field, and the date field you are searching by Your_Search_Field, even though they may be the same field...

Set Variable [$TheDate; Your_Date_Field]

Enter Find Mode[]

Set Field [Your_Search_Field; $TheDate]

Perform Find[]

What you are doing is capturing the current date in the variable $TheDate, then going into Find Mode and putting that value into the date field you want to search by.
