Expand and Contract Layout

Is it possible to set up a list type layout for printing, where a "notes" field will "expand" to accommodate the printing of the field's entire contents? Other records without contents in the "notes" field would still print on a single line. I believe that is is a feature found in Excel. Can it be done in FileMaker?

while in layout mode and with your notes field selected use the format menu>sliding and printing.

I think that this is where you need to look to achieve what you want

You can use sliding option for objects that you want to fit in contents.

- Go to layout mode.

- Select objects

- Select "set sliding/printing" option from format menu

- Mark "sliding up based on" check box

- Mark "also reduce the size of the enclosing part" check box

- It all done.

As others have suggested, use Sliding/Printing.

It works by making fields shrink smaller to fit the text, so the trick is to make the fields as large as you think they'll ever need on the layout.
