FM automatically changing passwords for accounts

Hi all,

I'm trying to create some different accounts with different privelege sets for my database. Currently there's just one, a "guest" account with full access that is automatically logged into when FMP starts.

Whenever I try to create a new account and give FMP a password to use, either temporarily or permanently, I click "OK," and when I look at the setting again, Filemaker has automatically changed the password some unknown 20-digit key. I have no idea why or how, and I can't get it to stop.

any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

This is FMP obscuring the password and it's length. The password you typed still there.

On a related note:

How long can passwords be? Does FileMaker truncate them at some point for storage reasons? Or actually only interpret the first "N characters" even if more are typed in?

Just curious.

Not sure what the max number of characters are but in the privledge set area you can specify the min number of characters the password must be.

Edit: See here. Says for version 3 maybe someone can clarify if it still applies.
