jeffshap Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 I am unable to get the Autoresize feature working. I have a layout where all objects have the anchor set to top left align and when I resize a layout in Browse or Preview mode the behaivior is no different than 8.5, the window just covers/exposes the objects regardless of window size and no objects are resized or moved. What am I missing?
Ender Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 The anchors are tied to their pixel distance from the edge of the window (or bottom of the Body). It generally works well for one set of objects on each plane & dimension.
jeffshap Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 I guess I am not clear on how the Autoresize is suppose to work. I thought the feature allowed for a window to be resized and all objects in the window to be resized and re-aligned, much the same way "Zoom" works. If this is not the case, under what situation would the Autoresize feature get used?
Tori Mitchell Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 It's sorta something that you have to play with to get a feeling for. The font sizes and whatnot are static. You can do a CF trick that scales them up but I'm not getting into that here. Think of anchors as steel spikes in the bounding boxes of the objects on the plane. If you have a box that has all four anchors active, it will expand in all directions. If it's only bound to the edges, it will not expand at all but stay in a position relative to the place that it was anchored. If you have two anchors in opposite directions added, it will grow to the axis that they are aligned to. Finally, portals can be an either/or proposition. They can grow the size of the portal row when you're stretching it, or they can add new portal rows. That's something that you can set up. I've attached a file that demonstrates the basic premise of the techniques. Thanks to Andrew LeCates in advance as I stole the idea of the box grid right off him. Anchors.fp7.zip
