August 22, 200718 yr Newbies Dear All! I am trying to use FileMaker to import directly scanned documents (hard copies & images) into a container field. Anyone knows how to do it without saving the scanned images to hard disk or through Adobe Acrobat and then Import /Insert into the record field?: At the moment I have Epson & Kodak scanners! Is the issue with the scanner manufacturer to provide some kind of twain drivers??
August 26, 200718 yr Google "InsideScan" and you'll find the plug-in. I use it hundreds of times a day in my office and it works great. They say they are doing a complete rewrite of the plugin but it's been a long time coming. One draw back that I've found is that it does not support multiple document feeding so you have to insert one page at a time.
August 28, 200718 yr I have been able to set up automated scanning from filemaker without a plugin. Using the supplied scanning software (epson) and AutoIt, I have initiated a sequence that activates the scanner software, starts the scan, uploads the pdf to a web server (renamed with a filename matching my primary key) and then views it with a web viewer in filemaker. I could have inserted the scanned documents to container fields, but I like the web viewer and/or open url... better since the files can be quite large sometimes and would bloat the DB.
