created an internet shortcut as fmp7://192.168.1.1/FMPFILE.fp7

In some instances it works and in some it doesn't i've checked the firewall setting etc., and can't seem to figure out why...

Does it work on the local network, but not from the outside?

I've seen it work both on a remote computer (outside my Lan) and on the local network. Im also wondering it the problem is that my filename is two words (i.e File Maker.fp7) and windows see only File instead of File Maker.fp7

A space could be a problem.

But unless your remote computer is on a VPN, that private IP address won't work from the outside.

Actually I have port 5003 open on the server and it seems to work using the public IP of the remote location, but it only works from certain computers... I'll keep trying different things. Thanks
