innodes Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I have a value list that may be corrupt. I cannot edit, duplicate or delete it. It is not currently working and the title went blank, and is identified as a custom value list (it was set up as a lookup type list). How can I delete this trouble maker? idee
David Jondreau Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Sounds like corruption, which may or may not be "Corruption". Difference being, the former can be fixed, once you get that value list out you're good to go, the latter is progressive and your file may be screwed. I don't know how to tell the difference except if more things (custom functions, scripts, fields, etc) show similar symptoms, you have Corruption. I'd try saving a compacted copy then trying to delete the list, then save as a compacted copy again. If that doesn't work, go to your most recent back up. If no backup exists, you're in a tough spot. The common wisdom is that Recovered files are never to be used, but simply to allow a developer to pull data out to put in a clean back up. But before I was aware of that I recovered a database that experienced similar issues to yours and it's been sucessfully used for several years.
innodes Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Thanks, I didn't want to take the chance, so I took a backup from a couple days ago and rebuilt it. I tried the compression first, but it didn't do anything. thanks again
