I'm sure I'm in good company with this, but the limitations of SASE to only Web Compatible script steps makes the bulk of its utility for me worthless.

I was talking with another in-house developer and he suggested setting up a dedicated machine that would run one continuously looping script that would pause for 24 hours and execute itself once a day, or whatever intervals we choose.

Does anyone see a problem with this or have any other ideas of a way to automate some of the non-compatible script steps, such as Import/Export and Send Mail?

Thanks for any help folks.

Rather than the looping script, why not just use the OS scripting capability (Appe Script or VBScript) to trigger the script at the desired times?

I am also frustrated with SASE. I want to use the "Save as PDF" command to save and email a daily report. Oh well, no hope yet of getting rid of my Robot machine and the pain of monitoring the processes that run on it manually.

Any ideas on how I could save a report? I'm going to try to use the SMTPit plugin to email it.

Has anyone tried that yet?

There are a number of script triggering plug-ins that will allow you to schedule script runs (in the client app) at specific times and/or on a recurring schedule.

This is a lot easier than a looping script.
