mark.christiansen Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Text fields in layouts seem to take a static width and height. But what if my text is variable in length and possibly in number of lines (the text has embedded newline characters)? Is there a way to have the text field adapt its size from one row to the next automatically? For instance, in an order I have many line items. Each line item's description may be more than some fixed number of characters, and may have some newlines in it for ease of reading complex descriptions. Yet on my order print-out layout, I can't accommodate this text since Filemaker wants a static-sized text box in the Body. Thanks for any Filemaker or third-party add-on ideas!
Inky Phil Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Lookup 'sliding' objects in your help file. This is the native FM tool that you can use to achieve what you want. HTH Phil
mark.christiansen Posted September 26, 2007 Author Posted September 26, 2007 I should have mentioned that I'm trying to get these multiple lines on a print-out. So using scrolling text doesn't work.
aholtzapfel Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 Look up "Sliding" in the help. This feature has nothing to do with scrolling. And this is exactly what you want to do.
