Turansky Posted February 5, 2002 Posted February 5, 2002 Hello, When I assign a -mailsub to my e-mail being generated it keeps everything lowercase? Any solutions? <input type="Hidden" name="-mailsub" value="Thank you"> Email Subject line spits out "thank you" Thank you (or thank you) Kent
Turansky Posted February 6, 2002 Author Posted February 6, 2002 Just to add to what I said before . . . I tried the same process on another project and put everything in caps but everything was put in lowercase on the subject line.
Vaughan Posted February 7, 2002 Posted February 7, 2002 Sounds like a bug then. Have you contacted FileMaker Inc?
Turansky Posted February 7, 2002 Author Posted February 7, 2002 I will wait to see if anyone else can create this same problem. Could someone else try a quick e-mail test to see if you also get only lowercase letters in the subject line please. Thank you Kent
Vaughan Posted February 7, 2002 Posted February 7, 2002 For what it's worth, -Mailsub is capitalising correctly for a FMP 4.0v3 system I have developed.
Turansky Posted February 7, 2002 Author Posted February 7, 2002 I went back to another machine with Filemaker 4 and it has no problems either so I think you are right, it might be a bug. KT
Garry Claridge Posted February 7, 2002 Posted February 7, 2002 I tried it with FM5.5v2 and it has the 'added feature' of converting to lowercase. All the best. Garry
Turansky Posted February 7, 2002 Author Posted February 7, 2002 Bummer Thank you for checking Gary Have a great day
Anatoli Posted February 8, 2002 Posted February 8, 2002 FM probably changed that for geeks, which are typing everything in lowercase lowercase is in uppercase out
Keith M. Davie Posted March 1, 2002 Posted March 1, 2002 Just a latent thought. What if you had a field which contained the text "Thank you." or "THANK YOU" or even "Thank YOU"? and for your value you cited that fmp field?
Turansky Posted March 1, 2002 Author Posted March 1, 2002 Good thought. . . . I already tried it. Actually this is the way I had it set up and I thought that might be the problem so then I went back to just putting in some basic text and it didn't work that way either. You didn't get it working did you? Thanks Kent
Keith M. Davie Posted March 1, 2002 Posted March 1, 2002 No. I didn't try to get it working. It was just a thought. Again, like other things, make sure that the right db/layout is being accessed. But you might want to consider using STMPit from the sponsors of these forums. They claim (and users aver) to have a useful email solution. Sometimes (often) it is economically realistic to give up some cash for a workable (and time saving) solution instead of reinventing the wheel. I've not tried an email solution other than that provided by html as a contact as in Attn webmaster etc. And that is not close to what you are attempting.
