accuraterealty Posted November 25, 2007 Posted November 25, 2007 Hey, I am trying to make a database for my real estate contracts, and I am trying to create a menu like the one shown here, any help? Proforms_Shot.pdf
Matthew F Posted November 26, 2007 Posted November 26, 2007 Did you consider just sticking with a single portal with fields formatted as 'popup menus' or 'drop down lists'?
accuraterealty Posted December 8, 2007 Author Posted December 8, 2007 I need to know how to do this type of layout thing. It have tried everything, including a comment from an earlier post i put up, but haven't solved the problem. When you look at the PDF, you can see that you can select a form from the left, and then click that "add highlighted" button and it will go over to the right. Then when you click "next", it will bring up a new page, with the "Selected Forms" on it, where you can print, view, whatever. Any help would be appreciated.
Fenton Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 [Repost, with file] The basic technique to do this in FileMaker is what is called "dwindling". You would be doing it with 2 portals, which is the best way, as it needs to be scripted. It would be possible to "highlight" portal rows. But that is a more complex technique. And I don't think it's really necessary; I don't even think it's better, as it requires 2 steps to do anything; it can be done in 1 click, including "Add All" and "Remove All". This is modified version of the file I posted recently. It requires FileMaker 8.5 because it uses the List() function. If anyone is using earlier versions, they can look for that other example file (it was very recent). This one will not let you open it. Dwindle_List_portals.fp7.zip
accuraterealty Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 We only have FM 9, Do we have to have 8.5?
accuraterealty Posted December 27, 2007 Author Posted December 27, 2007 Nevermind my last comment, but now I need to know how I link the "Groups" to Documents on my computer. In the Shot, you can see that the buttons are assigned to documents. So when I click on an "unassigned group" It would be an "unassigned Document" instead.
Fenton Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 "link the Groups to documents on my computer" is kind of a vague statement. FileMaker cannot directly access non-FileMaker documents on your computer. There are various methods to do various things with files however. Which you use depends on many factors, none of which you've told us. Neither have you explained what the correlation between a "Group" (which is a particular FileMaker record) and a "document on my computer." So, likely something could be done, but I'd be shooting in the dark if I said anything else. You should post more details, and re-ask the question in another post. I think you should start another topic, as I don't think it has much to do with the "dwindling" we were discussing. You should also state whether this is for a Mac-only environment or not.
