Gregory_I Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Is there any real performance benefits in upgrading from filemaker 7.0 & 7.0 server to 9.0? In looking at most of the spec sheets the products look very similar. I currently run xp pro. Working with stored .jpg container fields is slow through the network. I was told there are better ways in 8.0 to view .jpgs? Is an upgrade worth it or am I just looking for a headache? Any imput would be appreciated. By the way I am not opposed to jumping to 8.5 if there are known issues with 9.
IdealData Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 AFAIK FM7 server had a number of bugs, however there's a tactically sensible reason to upgrade. Although FMS9 support FMP7 clients you should upgrade those too. You never know when the upgrade path will be removed.
