Hi there, i am looking for a way how to speed up FM a little.. I have database which is not slowed by amount of records, but more slowing are complex relations. As my DB grows, it gets slower and slower, does anybody have any idea or trick how to fasten it a little? Thanks for every response! Matěj

Hello Backtassaar ,

What do you mean by speed the FM? Do you mean by cleaning up some unused scripts or steps to process the file? Or restructuring the relationship? Or you can add more memory and space to hard drive if this help.

About restructuring relationship of database, that would be a major problem since your database is getting bigger. However, maybe there are some folks in the forums that might help you with that...

but more slowing are complex relations

Not necessarily, but if you have many parallel relations exiting from the same record, would you need to relay them via a layer of sandwiched records, like:

But how would complexity be translated in your context, that you have made a confusing web of interconnection, without taking Mike Harris teachings at heart - or??

There are so many factors that influence "speed" or robustness:

1. file architecture

2. hard drive subsystem

3. NIC cards

4. Server processor

5. Server cache

6. Workstation processor

7. Workstation cache

8. network hardware

and on and on.
