Hi there. I am very new to filemaker, making the move from Access. I have a very simple question. I have a field with a value list and I want to have a default value that automatically populates the field unless another option is selected. I am sure this is very easy but just floundering a bit with new software.

Hi John, welcome to FM Forums!!

In File > Manage Database and Fields tab, find the field in question. Click button below right called Options. First tab is Auto-Enter. Click the data checkbox and type your value. The field will pre-fill with the value when a new record is created but can be changed later as well.
