agtjazz Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I have a stable working database that 1 person uses.... I would like (and need to) make it a multi-user database for contracts. I plan to serve it using FMSA 8.0- which is already up and running. What do I have to pay close attention to during this transition? I plan to do extensive testing and fixing before we go live, but any help, tips, advice would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Inky Phil Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 The biggest thing that I overlooked as a multi-user virgin was record marking. As a single user I would mark a found set with an 'x' and then use a relationship to 'see' this found set. This is a big no-no as each user will be marking different records and mixing up the 'sets'. Look up multi line keys using a global field so that each user can have their own 'marked' set Biggest lesson I ever learned that one! HTH phil
Søren Dyhr Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 If someone is barking up Phil's old tree here, and can't see themselves out of tagging as principle, should they read this thread: http://fmforums.com/forum/showtopic.php?tid/191906/fromsearch/1/hl/tagging/tp/0/all/1/ --sd
