Grab (get) result of data URLs in Web Viewer?

Featured Replies

Is it the way (possibility) to grab (get) result of [color:red]data URLs in Web Viewer ?

GetLayoutObjectAttribute result is space/nathing.

... what exactly is a "data url"?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Data:_URI

Well in that case, even if you could, it probably wouldn't work on windows:

"Microsoft's Internet Explorer, as of version 7, does not support data: URIs."

AFAIK, it DOES work on Windows with Filemaker version 9 web viewer.

I thought FM used the default system web browser?

I would test it, only I am actually still running 8.5 @ on most of my PC's and only have an FM 9 one for testing @ work. Mainly just converted over to server 9.

He comment,

sorry, bat as my English is, I don’t put right question.

Question is?

Can I grab (get) result from web viewer data URLs to another field with GetLayoutObjectAttribute?:)

Why?

Formally thru web viewer / data URL i get sam result which I need in some other field in db as filemaker data.

Regards

Ino

I didn't answer your question, because I don't have an answer except "I don't think so'. What exactly are these "results"? Are you running a javascript in the page?

formally YES, but also some html

attach example

Test.zip

I don't know a way to get the results of a javascript back into Filemaker, without using a plugin. It's a security issue, not really related to Filemaker. But you could do something like this:

Untitled.fp7.zip

Easy bat,

thanks a lot

Reactor is a plugin that handles interaction with Javascript/Ajax from within a webviewer. I don't like using plugins, but this one works well on Macs. I know its a little jumpy on the Windows platform, but what isn't. It seems FileMaker for Windows was almost an afterthought sometimes.

Thanks for that example above, comment, I previously thought that data urls didn't allow anything interactive like javascript, *REMOVED TO AVOID CONFUSING PEOPLE*

I haven't noticed a difference between '

Actually it may have been just some fluke or the fact I was using 8.5 advanced up until last week. The webviewer seems to be quicker in v9.0 as well.

I tested it and it works BOTH ways. I'm glad I'm wrong because I wouldn't want to have to remember do that for javascript.
