Hi folks,

New to Filemaker Pro but have successfully connected to our backend SQL2005 server and can read data directly etc.

My problem is creating a find/script solution as far as i can make out from reading the forums.

Within SQL, I have a database that contains multiple projects all with their own unique id so for example ProjectA = 1701 ProjectB = 1802

I normally file all projects under 2007 with the following projects i.e.

Year 2007

ProjectA (Unique SQL ID = 1701)

ProjectB (Unique SQL ID = 1702)

ProjectC (Unique SQL ID = 1703)

etc.

Year 2008

ProjectA (Unique SQL ID = 1801)

ProjectB (Unique SQL ID = 1802)

ProjectC (Unique SQL ID = 1803)

I would like to have a PopUp Menu or Dropdownlist function like you see on some websites for motors etc. where i can First Select Year 2007, which would pull up all Year 2007 projects in the second dropdown list and then when i pick a project from the second dropdownlist i.e. ProjectA, that Filemaker would return all records associated with that project only.

I think i would have to create a seperate table with ProjectName, ProjectID, Project Year in Filemaker as i can't create Value lists within ESS tables etc. Would this be right?

Anybody know where i would start please.

Thanks,

Sully

I do not know anything about SQL but look at this example of a conditional value for filemaker
