DevCon 2008

A couple questions from someone thinking about going for the first time:

Anyone know what the hotel rates will be? Clicking the link on the advisorevents page goes nowhere.

Last year's form says: Free FileMaker Software for all attendees. Keeping in mind that it's probably different each year, what kind of software does one usually get? Full retail versions of something, or more like demos and code samples?

In times past the hotel rate has been $149/night I believe, but I don't really know having never paid it myself.

The software has been a NFR (not for resale) copy of FMP in the past but last year attendees received a NFR copy of FMPA 9.

I see last year's rate was $149 but I didn't know if it fluctuated at all from one venue to the next. We're in the convention business ourselves, and while we always try to keep prices low, our group rates can range anywhere from $109 to $200+ per night depending on the city and hotel.

In 2005 when it was at the same venue as this years (Phoenix, AZ), it was $129 for early registration, whereas, in Orlando it was $149, so it is true that it varies by venue.

They published the page today with the rates - 149 - already made my reservation - i'd recommend you make it soon as the rooms will go quick.

I think they're offering the higher priced registration for the first time which includes all the sunday sessions plus the thursday session as i understand it.

I've only been to the Florida devcons so im looking forward to seeing what Arizona has to offer.

OH Rich is going again? Thats it I'm out. :)

This year attendees will receive a copy of FM9 Advanced again.

What would it take to have the Filemaker certification exam on the last day of DevCon? It would be very convinient, like they say "killing two birds with one stone" - anonymous.
