Containers in Portals?

Featured Replies

Can containers (in this case pictures) be placed into portals in fmp9? If so, would the picture size down to the container field size or would the picture be occluded if the container wasn't the same size. I'm thinking about how different sized pictures in the portal would work.

There is a Format, Graphic... menu command. You can either Crop (leave as is), Reduce, Enlarge, or Reduce_or_Enlarge. So, yeah it will resize. But when you put a big image reduced in a small sized container, FileMaker has to load the big image, then resize. So you are wasting the user's time, to some extent. It can be a problem with large images, in List views for example. Best to create a resized copy of the image to use instead.

You can place any field in a portal, including a container. The picture can be resized to fit the frame, or cropped - you decide that by formatting the field (Layout mode > Format > Graphic...).
