Printing long text fields ?

Hi all,

There is a "description" field that may have a single line of text ... or 20 pages of text (it could be book chapters).

I would like to have a report that expands or contracts in length; depending on the contents of this field. In form-view this field has a scroll-bar to access the rest of its content, but it will only print the visible text in the field box.

I think that you are going to run into problems, bcs FM is not a layout package and isn't made for 20pp text blocks. Can they be somehow chopped up with calc fields?

However, what you need is a dedicated layout for printing. Drag the body part as far as it will go (you'll hit a vertical limit). Then put the text block in the body part, resize it to just short of the body part. Select the text field and select Sliding/Printing and set the field to slide up and reduce the size of the part.
