Importing script - Possible to specify a directory?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to specify a directory in the Import script step, without actually specifying the file?

I want the user to run the import script and have the window open to a specific directory, then allow them to choose the file in the directory to import.

Thanks for any help!

i would recommend the use of a plugin for exact control when importing files.

Bringing this up again....

I'm in the same boat. I don't want the user to access the import mapping, etc. so I want it to preform without dialog for the most part. I Just want them to be able to select which file from their desktop (because the name will change).

It seems like it should be possible without a plug-in.

i believe on the Mac it can be done with AppleScript - if there is a windows os level scripting method that might be employed, but I feel much more peace of mind with a plugin.

You could have the user "import" the file into a global container field, as reference only. Then take the file's path from there and continue on your own.

Beat me to it ! I started my post and had to go take the daughter to work before I could upload a sample of what I came up with last night.

If a problem opening use admin and no pass....
