March 25, 200817 yr Is it possible to specify a directory in the Import script step, without actually specifying the file? I want the user to run the import script and have the window open to a specific directory, then allow them to choose the file in the directory to import. Thanks for any help!
September 16, 200817 yr Bringing this up again.... I'm in the same boat. I don't want the user to access the import mapping, etc. so I want it to preform without dialog for the most part. I Just want them to be able to select which file from their desktop (because the name will change). It seems like it should be possible without a plug-in.
September 17, 200817 yr i believe on the Mac it can be done with AppleScript - if there is a windows os level scripting method that might be employed, but I feel much more peace of mind with a plugin. http://www.fmpug.com/resourcedirectory_plugin_list.php?find=File%20Manipulation
September 17, 200817 yr You could have the user "import" the file into a global container field, as reference only. Then take the file's path from there and continue on your own.
September 17, 200817 yr Beat me to it ! I started my post and had to go take the daughter to work before I could upload a sample of what I came up with last night. If a problem opening use admin and no pass.... import_script.zip
