Hello, I was wondering if anyone has a sample contract I could get ideas from. I need to write one up and since this is my first, I don't really know where to start. It's a project that has a global price and is not hourly based.

Thanks!

Try this website, they have an independant contractor agreement that might get you started off!

You can also check out this book from Nolo Press. I've used it in the past. Link

At some point, I strongly suggest that you retain a good business attorney, bite the bullet and craft a master standard agreement for your future clients. Depending on the area of the country you're in, it can cost anywhere from $300 - $2000. But believe me it's worth every penny.

Our attorney has made us think about so many different things to protect ourselves and ensure the best deal for the client.

Another consideration is that many organizations, Especially government, are requiring more legal review of contracts and sometimes your boilerplate web contract just won't cut it.

But I know it's difficult when you're starting out or don't have the money to spare.

If by "global price" you mean it's a fixed price job, be careful. Very careful.

Good point friend.

Always include a mechanism for accommodating changes requested by client as well as unexpected "gotchas"
