Server Advanced 9 will not open a large database...

Featured Replies

I have a 432 mb database running on my laptop, have server advanced 9 running on it. I have uploaded it and I try and open it on the database status page. It sits there and verifies and verifies and then goes back to closed. I believe it may be my laptop does not have the horsepower to handle that big a file. I am on a 1.8 ghz sempron with 1.256 gigs of ram. Other databases I have are able to be opened and this is the only one I am having difficulty with. I am running XP SP2 btw.

How much space is on your hard drive? ... It's possible the file is corrupted. Are you able to open it as a single user? Try doing that and then close it and open it again with the server. This won't mean the file isn't corrupt, but it may at least set the consistency check bit to fool the server.

The file has likely failed its consistency check. Close all hosted files and stop all FileMaker Server services. Then open the file in FileMakerPro and save a compacted copy of it. Then try opening the compacted copy from FileMaker Server.

[color:red]Use the Save A Copy...compacted from the file menu, not the file maintenance options in FileMaker Pro Advanced.
