I have a simple to do list, and I want to present the total number of "to do's" on my systems fron page. Ie:

Field: (2 To Do's) Button: (Enter ToDo list)

how do I calculate the total number of posts in a table?

Please clarify your structure. Are you wanting to count how many records have a certain field value or are you just trying to show how many total records there are in general? What tables? What layouts? Is the from page layout from the same table occurrence as where your field is? Please provide us with as much info as you can.
