Server 9.0 Config won't start

Featured Replies

When I try to start the Admin Console I get two errors:

1)The database server is not Available. To edit server deployment, please start the Database Server first.

--I then have an option to restart or cancel so I choose restart. After I choose restart, it shows

2)Unable to start the database server. Please contact your system admin.

I have tried to uninstall and install it many times, but I still got the same errors. Dose anyone know how to solve it? Thanks

FileMaker Server 9 does not run on Vista.

Try using WIndows Server 2003 SP2 Standard Edition 32 bit as your OS.

James,

Try checking your Windows event logs. I had a similar problem when I was installing FMS9 and the event log told me the exact reason the database wouldn't start. It was because I had installed FMS9 on a test box earlier in the week and was attempting to use the same license key. FMS detected that the key was already in use and refused to start the DB. All I had to do was remove FMS9 from the test box and all was well after that.
