FYI - We would like all our users to be able to send FAX's from within our custom FileMaker Application.

What are the opinions as to the best method to do this?

Is it better to set up a hardware modem?

What is the best FAX Plugin?

What about receiving FAX's?

Thanks in advance

I couldn't find a fax solution, they, FM'ers tell me to use a fax.com service email to fax.. I the call center business, found that email is gaining, with Vista some vendors are dropping the fax software support..

SO I HAVE DEVELOPED my own server... its called efStar.. its new.. it outputs either email or fax with some Admin.. Use 2 files a txt for control & hmtl for the message area.. paired files any FM app can make in any workstation dumping to a shared folder is what the final solutions is.. crude but versatile www.mastar.com

Are your users Mac clients? PC? A mix? I develop for an all Mac shop and we're currently using 4-Sight fax. They have a plugin for Filemaker pro that makes it very easy to send and receive faxes utilizing Filemaker directly. I had some pretty steep requirements when it came to cover sheets, confirmations, etc and 4-Sight was the only electronic fax solution that was mac compatible that fit the bill. I could not find one hosted fax solution that game me full length cover pages.
