I have a layout with check entry record fields in the top section and check distribution record fields in the bottom section. The purpose of this form is to enter check entry information and the 1st check distribution information. The two records are joined by a relationship. Entry in the layout is fine except that the dropdowns fail to populate their respective name fields the check entry record (see next paragraph). They work fine in the check distribution section.

Example of the failure: The check entry section has a Vendor ID field and a Vendor Name field. The Vendor ID is the dropdown field and this field works fine. The Vendor Name field fails to appear (it has a relationship with Vendor ID) when the Vendor ID is entered. However, if you go to another record and come back to the entered record, the Vendor Name now appears.

Any ideas?

Attached is a zip file showing the behavior of the dropdowns. It contains a table named "Checks" and a table named "CheckDistributions". The layout named "Checks" shows this behavior. I am trying to enter a Check and the 1st Check Distribution. The name of the Vendor (Checks section of the layout) does not appear when you enter the Vendor ID but does appear on the layout if you save the record or come back to it later. The name of the GL Account (Check Distribution section of the layout) appears when you enter the GL Account ID as it should.

How do I get the Vendor Name to appear when I enter a Vendor ID in the Checks section of the Layout?
