ghettocottage Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I am building a front end to a database that will be used for iwp web access. I have the basic structure in place already. What I am wondering is can I have a script that opens the back-end with one user, no matter who logs in to the front end? That way I will not have to create new users in the back end, but rather just have a single web-user account. The front end needs separate users, who are then directed to a certain layout by a script. I am sure this must be possible but I have not been able to find a thread on it yet. Any help would be..err..helpful
Steven H. Blackwell Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 IWP access can utilize External Server Authentication for its Accounts. That way, you only have to put the Account in one place, one time. Thgat may be a better approach than the one you are contemplating. Steven
ghettocottage Posted June 10, 2008 Author Posted June 10, 2008 Hi. Thanks for the tip about using External Authentication. It was not quite what I was looking for, but it works great for some other issues I was having. I ended up using a tutorial I found online that solves the problem of having multiple files that need the same user accounts. This tutorial has a walk through to create a user administration interface. Very nifty. Here is the link: http://my.advisor.com/doc/17679?open&pid=
Steven H. Blackwell Posted June 10, 2008 Posted June 10, 2008 Be very careful with these ersatz log in systems. Some of them can be very insecure. Note this article elsewhere in FM Forums. Steven
