Find all records for a calendar month?

Featured Replies

I am wondering if there is a script or calculation that I can setup to find all records in my database for a particular month and year.

Several date fields are completed in this database as its main function is to keep dates of each job that comes through our department.

The first date entered is an automatically generated field once a new record is created named "Received".

The next two date fields are entered by the user which are "Artwork" and "Proof Out", these can sometimes be several days later than the "Received" date and thus require their own field.

Lastly, there are two date fields for each time the job returns from the client with corrections, these are referred to as authors corrections. I have the fields as "AC 1 In" and "AC 1 Out". These fields repeat six times so that there can be six separate records.

What I am after is, a search function or calculation that will display all the records for the month - regardless of what date field the date was entered into.

For example - a job may come into our department - let's call it Job #12345 - and it will be "Received" on 15th March. "Artwork" will be created on the 16th March and "Proof Out" on the 18th March.

Then on the 2nd April the job comes back into our department and is entered into "AC 1 In" and then "AC 1 Out" is on the 3rd April.

Is there a function where I can tell the database to search all date records for a particular month and then display all these records within the FileMaker window?

Also would this same record - Job #12345 - appear in both the March and April search results?

It will make for exporting these records for our monthly reports much easier - as I will not have to filter through 30,000+ records to select only the files that have been through the department on a particular month.

Thanks to those that are able to assist, I am running FileMaker 5.50 so functions such as Let and Div are not available for use.

Make yourself two(3) extra fields splitting the part of a date into it's respective components as Year( Month( and Day( and build your requests by filling in those fields.
