FileMaker 8.5 on OS X 10.4

Is there a limit on the number of records displayed in a pop-up list?

• I have 8,000 record to display on the list

Only around 50 display correctly, it starts in the wrong place.

I think this is a bug and not corruption.

Anyone else know of a limit/issue ?

lol what is the purpose of a popup list with 8000 values? Wouldnt it take forever to scroll through them?

Why not just filter the values down?

The value list is Language.

I do have a filter which shows about 40 commonly used international languages (user definable), but i have always liked to have a show all languages tickbox, as i do with show all countries, nationalities…

Bottom line is FileMaker 8.5 does not seem to be able to handle a list of this size.

I dunno about hard limits, but any more than about 60 items becomes a user interface nightmare.

Selection portals then become my user-interface-widget of choice.

BTW, have you tried reindexing the field that the value list is based off?
