Restricting User access to default OS "close window" buttons

Featured Replies

Hi guys!

In order to protect my database and to force users to use the buttons on the interface to close a window (as there are scripts behind it of course), I would like to restrict user access to the default Windows or MacOS buttons to close a certain window.

However, my main concern is, when I restrict access to menus from the priviligesets:

1. the default OS buttons are still accessible and

2. the copy/paste function is no longer available (they should be able to copy text from other applications if necessary)

Any suggestions on how to resolve this?

Isabelle

I've never tried this but it seems to do what you're after + ....

The menu item name for Close and the shortcut, Ctrl+F4, cannot be modified in the Windows System Menu of the document window. The Close behavior will change if the action for the Close Menu item is altered in the Edit Custom Menu dialog box.

How do you interpret this Fitch? Or even better make a pair of templates for each platform showing it??

--sd

The way I interpret it is: you can't modify the name/shortcut in the Windows System Menu, just as you cannot remove the close button -- but you can modify the behavior via custom menus.
