Copy unrelated data to another filemaker file

I have two fp7 files. They are unrelated. I am wanting to copy some of the data from on file to the other using a button on a specific record. So I am thinking a script on the button that creates a record in the other file, copies data (loop) from the original file to the designated fields in the new record on the other file, then brings the other file forward so the user can fill out the remaining missing data. I am sure there is a simple way but I just don't know how.
