Bailey Kessing Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 I am trying to import a text file with 2 billion records (about 45gb of data). I know I am crazy but wanted to try. It ONLY gets to 62 million records. This is on Leopard. using FM 9.03. Plenty of disk space also. Any ideas?
Vaughan Posted July 24, 2008 Posted July 24, 2008 It could be lots of things. I'd start by increasing FM Pro's cache setting (in Preferences, under Memory). I think the default is 8MB; double it and see what happens. Importing 45GB of data will take some time: is the hard disk (or cpu) going to sleep?
Bailey Kessing Posted July 26, 2008 Author Posted July 26, 2008 thanks. I am trying to larger ram, but I am sure the hard drive isn't going to sleep. Will see if I get further with the larger ram.
Bailey Kessing Posted July 26, 2008 Author Posted July 26, 2008 No luck. doubled the ram and no difference. anyone have any ideas?
Josh Ormond Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 (edited) increasing FM Pro's cache setting (in Preferences, under Memory). I think the default is 8MB; double it and see what happens. Did you try what Vaughan suggested? He is not referring to the RAM, but to the Cache setting in the Preferences menu. Edited September 5, 2008 by Guest
