July 30, 200817 yr Somehow I accidentally turned on "Log in using" Account and Password. Boy was I surprised when FM asked for Account and password at next launch. By duplicating my mistake on a scratch file I was able to figure out that the Account had defaulted to "Admin" with no password and I was able to log in. I have now UNCHECKED the "Log in use" option on the File Options panel but at launch FM still requires the login. How do I "remove" the login requirement?
July 30, 200817 yr Well, you are working at cross purposes to your stated goal. If you want to avoid any credentials challenge, you have to supply a set of credentials in the file options area. This essentially is what you just removed from your file. Steven
July 30, 200817 yr Author Thanks... Supply a login to not have to login.. and I though mac software was intuitive... Now I understand (I'm new to vers 9... jumped from a really old one). Thank you for the reply and answer!
July 30, 200817 yr Supply a login to not have to login.. and I though mac software was intuitive... It has nothing to do with Mac -- the Windows version works the same way -- and everything to do with a proper security model, which older versions lacked.
July 31, 200817 yr Here is a house analogy: Older versions of FMP produced files with no doors. You added doors when you wanted to restrict access. Since FMP 7, all files come with locked doors. You cannot enter unless you have a key. But by default, FMP creates files with the door already open.
