HELP! Remote from Home Access

Hello

Thanks for taking a look at this post. I have recently began using Filemaker Pro 9 and have already been able to remotely access my file through a network (I have a office with two computers). The problem I have is to access my database from home (so I am hosting the file through one of my computers at the office which is connected through a router). How can this be done? All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance :

Hi

I am also trying to achieve this. I want to access the server at work from home. The server is plugged into a router. I have tried connecting to the router IP address with no luck. Like the previous post any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

You will probably need to use Remote Desktop...or something similar. I personally use LogMeIn.com. You can access any computer you install it on from a web browser.

I believe LogMeIn only works on PC's...as for Mac, check out the Remote Desktop.

With Remote Desktop, I think the file already needs to be open. You can't open the file when Remote-ing in.

For me this was the easiest way...because or office is behind a VPN / Firewall.

Actually you need to be sure that Port 5003 is opened to allow access to the hosted files. This will be [color:red]very slow in peer to peer mode. Use FileMaker Server instead.
