Bikeman17 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Hi there I am a bit puzzled with my records. I store my members' photos in a separate folder. When I try to delete a record, I got the following message: This record cannot be modified in this window because it is already being modified in a different window. I use the following actions to store my members' photos: Set Error Capture (on) Go to Field (Member::Member Photo) Insert Picture (Reference) Go to Layout (Member Record) Any help is welcome! ;)
Bikeman17 Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 To add to this post It looks that I am not able to edit the record at all. I got the previous message in any fields when attempting to edit.
Lee Smith Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 You don't have a "New Window" (second window) open that you are trying to do your modification in by chance? Lee
Bikeman17 Posted August 19, 2008 Author Posted August 19, 2008 I am not sure about your comment. That file has several layouts. When the file is open, there is another file in back. I've been able to delete all the members except one. I cannot edit nor delete the last record. I tried to delete by the menu, a button or a keyboard short-cut.
Lee Smith Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 (edited) I was referring to the New Window, available under the Main Menu >> Window. Your message sounded like this warning you will get when FileMaker isn't focused on the Window you are using. This record can not be modified in this window, Because it is already being modified in a Different Window. However, your most recent post sounds like a corruption. Can you post a copy of your file? Bikeman17 Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 Well I used the Recover tool and it solved the issue. Weird message that mislead me. The file was in fact corrupted.
Bikeman17 Posted August 20, 2008 Author Posted August 20, 2008 It looks that I should have paid more attention to the message. Thanks for your tips about the window. In fact, the file was not corrupted because I experienced the problem with the recovered file. It was originated from the Menu file. When opening the Member file, the Start Up script runs a set field script in Menu. That script was faulty.
