I am a beginner to filemaker and have a question regarding a database I am trying to make.

Basically I have 2 forms. The first form is a list of ALL the furniture [color:red]("furniture catalog") including Name, Description, Material, Price, Picture. The second form is a list of furniture by job [color:red]("job furniture") including the same information from the [color:red]"furniture catalog" including a few other fields like location, quantity, remarks, etc.

After filling in all the information in the [color:red]"furniture catalog" I want to be able to go to the [color:red]"job furniture" form and select a piece of furniture that is in the [color:red]"furniture catalog". Once the name is selected all the information that relates to the piece of furniture is filled in automatically into the [color:red]"job furniture" fields. And then I can fill in the other fields (location, quantity, remarks, etc.)

What is the best way to accomplish this task. Any help will be much appreciated! If I worded this confusing please let me know.

Thanks!

Sounds like you need to do 2 tables, Furniture and Job. Furniture has fields about an individual piece of furniture. Jobs hasa one to many relationship with furniture ie in one job you select multiple pieces of furniture. Then you display the job layour with a furniture portal showing the pieces selected.
