jdu98a Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) Someone please help me before I punch through my monitor. I have created a table layout and enabled reorderable and resizable columns. Yesterday everything worked fine. Today none of the columns will resize. Even if I right-click and type in a resize value nothing happens. Please help. What is causing this? What update do I need to run? What registry value do I need to change? Who do I need to call? My columns are on lockdown. If I end up having to do a restore on this file will I lose any design changes that I have made since yesterday because they are extensive. Raybaudi Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 If I end up having to do a restore on this file will I lose any design changes that I have made since yesterday because they are extensive. So extensive to create too many fields ? Is it possible that you have now ( and not yesterday ) too many fields in the form ?
jdu98a Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 Thanks for the reply. What is the maximum number of fields allowed in a table layout?
aldipalo Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Just a question, you say you are using 8 Adv., are you? Do you have both 8 Adv and 9 Adv and have opened the wrong one? When you open in layout mode can you reset the layout so that it doesn't resize? Just some thoughts you may have already tried.
Fenton Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 I see in the specs: 99 columns. I assume this means table view. Never tried more that many myself. 110 inches wide.
Raybaudi Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 Thanks for the reply. What is the maximum number of fields allowed in a table layout? It depends by their column width... With a column width of 120 px about 64. BTW: How many do you have ? Which is their column width ?
Colin Keefe Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 The layout pallette is 8000px x 8000px, so you may be hitting that as well.
jdu98a Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 (edited) An answer was supplied while I was typing this original reply. Thanks for the help. The monitor remains in tact. : Edited September 10, 2008 by Guest answer was supplied
Raybaudi Posted September 10, 2008 Posted September 10, 2008 The layout pallette is 8000px x 8000px, so you may be hitting that as well. Didn't understand ... The 8000 px widht is what I said ( about ), but the other 8000 px ? What's the need of a field of more than 8000 px height in Table View ? Even FileMaker says you, with a warning message, that the max height is 7999px ... and even with that heigth ( 7999px ) columns can resize
Colin Keefe Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I'm not saying anything special about the height per se, or saying anything different from you. I just noted the maximum dimensions of a layout as a reason for why the horizontal resizing of columns was hitting a limit. I don't care about the height and wasn't making any kind of point about it. As for 7999 vs 8000; yeah. All I know is if you drag an object all the way to the right, the right bound in Object Info is 8000 px. I guess subtract 1 for the left pixel.
comment Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Just nit-picking: the right boundary is included in the object, the left one isn't (you can have a 1-pixel wide object starting at 0 and ending at 1). Therefore an object can be up to 8,000 pixels wide.
