Moving FM database schema and layouts to another system

Featured Replies

Hello,

I have a multiple table FM database on a classified system where I work. I need to move the database, not the data, to the outside world. The database is not classified, but the security folks won't let me move it outside without a security check (an automated system that looks for keywords, etc.) The output needs to be ascii text. I can get ascii text for everything but the layouts. I have many hours invested in my layouts and do not have time to do them again.

Is there a way to move the database? I am looking at the Database design report, but it isn't working for me.

Gap_Filler plugin, even the trial, can do what you wish.

The DDR "isn't working" in what way? It ouputs HTML or XML, both plain text formats.

... but, having the DDR, you can't paste it in layout mode and have the same layout that was in the previous DB.

This functionality is instead given by that plugin.

My intent was not to suggest the DDR as a means to rebuild layouts automatically. I thought the text was only needed for the audit.

Would Clip Manager also be able to do this? It looks like it might.

Yes, Clip Manager is another plugin that can do it.

Clip Manager is NOT a plugin, it is a standalone application.

Yes, Lee, you are right !
