February 26, 200124 yr Members of my user group are rushing me toward adopting FM 5.0. I was told that we could stay with 4.0 because we have a small network of users, and 5.0 was mainly for internet compatibility. Should we go to 5.0 regardless? Thanks.
February 26, 200124 yr If you don't need the new features (of which there aren't all that many) and the solution working OK now, I'd stick with FMP4. When FMP6 comes out, re-evaluate the situation again.
February 26, 200124 yr 5.0 has a few nifty new features, like conditional value lists (really cool), table view (practically worthless) some new web compatibility (though not nearly enough ... it's still a pain in the neck to put FMP DBs on the web!). But if you don't need 'em, why upgrade? For those in your user group who are upgrading for their own purposes, just tell 'em not to delete v4.0 until everyone is upgraded (v5.0 DBs are not backward-compatible).
