Using variables in FileMaker

I'm looking for a way to insert a username and password into an email that is generated by a FileMaker script. We send out approx. 200 emails to clients, who each have their own usernames and passwords to access our website. We currently add the username and password manually but are looking for a way to insert a variable into a script that could process this dynamically. Has anyone had any experience with this before?

Any chance you could upgrade to a current version of FileMaker? If not (or possibly even so) you might want to try an email plugin.

I don't see why this couldn't be done in version 5 (I've never used it, but I believe I can do it even in version 4). This is assuming that the username and password are stored in the file (which may not be a good idea).

You can do it in older versions, it's just a little more work. For example, you can't calculate the message in the Send Mail script step as you can in FM9; you have to create a calculated field for the message or set a field using additional script steps.
