3 out of 4 computers can access Filemaker

Featured Replies

I have 4 computers that need to access filemaker files over the internet

through a proxy server. 3 of the computers are Windows 95 and 1 is W2K Pro.

The proxy server is running Microsoft proxy 2.0. All 4 machines are set up

the same. One of the W95 machines will not open a file. When I try to open

the file, I click on Host, specify the IP number-- The squiggly line comes

on for a second then goes away with no connection.

What do I need to do to make the one work like the other 3? The version is

Filemaker pro 5v3.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure the network setting of that machine does not have any mistake?

Yes, I can browse the network in Network neighborhood and access the internet through the proxy server.

Thanks for your reply.

Make sure TCP/IP is set in FileMaker preferences on the machine that does not connect.

Yes, TCP/IP is set.

Thanks for your reply!

Is the port # setting the same on the machine that cannot connect as those that can connect?

Do the Win 95 machines have the same network cards?,

Have you Bind the IP protocol to the net cards?

I would like to thank those who participated in my quandry. I solved the problem today. I discovered that the 4th computer had a check in the proxy client in control panel forcing IPX. When I remved the check, it worked. Thank you all for you help.
