Newbies Pollewop Posted March 10, 2001 Newbies Posted March 10, 2001 Is there a neat, free and simple conversion-program available (Somewhere ? Somehow ?) to convert my .xls-files (Office 97) to a FM Pro format for Mac :
esteshk Posted March 10, 2001 Posted March 10, 2001 Drag your excel spreadsheet on top of the Filemaker icon and presto, conversion to FMP. To go the other way, export data out of your FMP file in tab or comma delimited form and drag the resulting text file on top of the excel icon! What could be easier or more free! danjacoby Posted March 10, 2001 Posted March 10, 2001 I think "esteshk" got it backward, but the principle is still the same. Save the Excel file as Tab-delimited text, then drag the icon for that file over the FMP icon, et voila!
esteshk Posted March 10, 2001 Posted March 10, 2001 Sorry but I did not get it backward. You can simply drag an excel document on top of the FileMaker icon and it will convert. I do it all the time. One of the major improvements in v5 is greater integration with the MS Office suite. Either way will work but I'm basically a lazy guy, I mean my time is valuable.
