Help with script step to bring record to front

Featured Replies

The script step is to bring a record, with a particular field occupied, to the front of a set of records with the selected field empty.

Are you talking about a Sort?

Not the FM Sort. The script is to check the selected field for empty/filled condition and if filled, that record would end on top of the pile at Enter Preview Mode.

Sounds like a Sort to me. If you sort ascending, empties go to the top. Descending, empties go to the bottom, which is what you want AFAICT. You can also get this effect with a sort based on a custom value list.

I am not quite following... If you have a field that sometimes has data or not in it and then you want to see the records with data in that particular field at the top of the list in preview mode, you would still need to sort.

Either make a calculation that returns IsEmpty ( YourField ) and sort Ascending or another option is to sort the current field Descending. The blank values should be at the top.

Edit: Sorry Tom didnt see your post yet

Fitch and mr_vodka, okay, I'll go with the Sort. I hadn't thought about using Sort in that way; I took the more complicated path. Cool.

Thanks for the fast response.
