Hi all,

Hopefully someone has had the same idea and can tell me how to do this...

I'm developing a runtime app that so that several people can access the data that is in a server, so that they can access/add/modify that data, but without having to purchase several copies of FM Pro.

Any ideas/links on how to do this?

Thanks!

You are wasting your time - Runtimes DO NOT NETWORK.

A Runtime CAN BE HOSTED on FMS - but access is then only available through and FMP client.

Please read the manual on runtime development - there are a lot of caveats you should be aware of.

You could consider a web delivered results using either CWP or IWP - but once again do some reading before you start.

This a limitation you have with the builder, single user solutions only.

An alternative is to serve the solution as a web thing via IWP or CWP, which however requires spit and polish from the developer side to make it happen as agile as a genuine server/client solution., which often can get very pennywise pound foolish - I'm afraid.

Yet another way is to migrate your solution to Runtime/mySQL.

...but a fair guess that neither is this achieved without hassles, but I have never really tried.

The essense here is that filemaker nieche is somewhere a tad away from building foilwrapped solutions ... groupware is it called!
