Newbies mig_x Posted November 21, 2008 Newbies Posted November 21, 2008 Hi, I have a question about multiple fields in a record/Layout. I have one layout that consists of 200 records. In those records i have about 50 fields. Now i want to make a layout which searches for typical entries in those fields and put them in another field. How do i do this?? grtz
LaRetta Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 (edited) Now i want to make a layout which searches for typical entries in those fields and put them in another field. Please provide more specific information: Who will be performing the search and how? Why are the fields being searched and for what? What kind of field will hold the resultant data? Why is it being moved? And is this a one-time thing or an on-going process? We cannot give you good answers without being able to picture what you are doing. :wink2: Edited November 21, 2008 by Guest My post sounded like a 2-yr-old so I re-worded it.
Lee Smith Posted November 21, 2008 Posted November 21, 2008 Hi LaRetta, LOL - love your reason for the modification. [color:red]Hi grtz, welcome to the Forum, Your question is confusing to read, and understand are wanting to do. Some of the confusion is cause by the mixing up of these basic things: Layout is a view, or mode, not a Table A table is where the fields are created, and held. Not all fields have to be on a layout. Now i want to make a layout which searches for typical entries in those fields and put them in another field. How do i do this?? What is a typicle entry? Do you want to search 50 fields at the same time for this entry, or will there be multiple find requirements? Are you doing a find for specific words that are from a list of some sort? Would a Relationship provide what you want? Lee
