Storing shortcuts to path/file.

Featured Replies

Hi.

I am looking to store shortcuts of a file (and it's path) in a field. I need to be able to drag a shortcut (or something like that) into a field to store that info - NOT the file itself as the files are very big.

The purpose it be able then click on a button alongside that field and use that text to then copy that file to another location - specifically a shared printer.

Problem is that we get OLE errors when trying to creat a shortcut directly into the container field.

Can somebody suggest an easy way to get a file and path (text) stored into a field other than the traditional cut-and-paste method.

Greg

Seems like your issue can be resolved by just using the insert file / picture / etc. but check the store only as reference option.
