how to scale a video to the webviewer

Featured Replies

I need to scale a video down to an appropriate size to fit in the smaller webviewer on my layout. It's a "preview" size, say 250px x 200px.

The video remains in it's original 640x480 size when playing in the webviewer, so it's cropped in significantly.

I've searched but can't find any info on how to scale the video down to the webviewer's size. It's not imperative that I use the web viewer, but I think it's the only way to preview a video file on the layout.

Help?

This is not really a Filemaker question. The web viewer is just a browser, hanging onto a Filemaker layout by a few thin threads. Anyway, it might be possible if you build your own html page and embed the foreign videos in it the way you like.

Good to know. I guess I hadn't thought of it that way. I'll see what I can come up with using HTML

thanks

You may try to use the Zoom within filemaker. (Display the layout at 25% and it should show the webpage at a smaller size.) The file size is still the same but it should render smaller in the viewer (or at least appear smaller). You can then use very large fonts on the layout (will need to design the rest of the layout to be viewed at 25% zoom level).

Play with this first before putting alot of work into it. Not all websites scale well in a browser. (This is like changing the zoom level in the browser.)
