milky Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Hi Everyone I am having no end of trouble getting a lookup/autofill to work as I want it to. I have got it to work in various parts of my program, but not this one. I have included an attachment in excel showing 3 columns. The first 2 columns work fine, its the 3rd column that will not work. Further down the spreadsheet is a picture of the screen layout. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Milton I tried to attach but couldn't find any way to????
milky Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Found where to add the attachments Auto_fill_in_from_my_invoices.zip
RalphL Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Get rid of the repeating field in Invoice. Use a portal to a related table Invoice Line Items. This table will be a join between Invoice & Product.
milky Posted January 5, 2009 Author Posted January 5, 2009 Ralph, Thanks for that, The repeating field works fine on the invoice, its the one for the accounts (column 3 in the spreadsheet) that will not autofill. Regards Milton.
bruceR Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Ralph, Thanks for that, The repeating field works fine on the invoice, its the one for the accounts (column 3 in the spreadsheet) that will not autofill. Regards Milton. Upload a working FileMaker example file please. The repeating fields will cause you no end of reporting problems. Will you ever want to know totals for any item type or tax code for a date period or customer? Oops, you're using repeating fields, you can't get that information. Get rid of all the repeating fields. Seriously. Edited January 5, 2009 by Guest
milky Posted January 6, 2009 Author Posted January 6, 2009 Bruce, My file is 5mb as a zip file and the limit here is 1 mb. Any other way to pos it? Milton
Søren Dyhr Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 What if you save the file as clone without records before zipping? --sd
